Scope:
Electrical Design & Build

For 15 years Picow Engineering Group have worked with Golden Acres Pet Food Partners, Europes largest manufacturer of premium dried pet foods, as their preferred EC&I contractor, helping them to increase the size and capacity of their dried pet food production and storage facilities.

This is the first major development on site for a number of years, with a new innovative production line, energy centre, odour abatement and water treatment plant, constructed in order to increase the production of dry extruded pet food from 1,500 tonnes to 2,500 tonnes. The vision for the project was one of functionality and flexibility to allow future expansion whilst maintaining Golden Acres environmental ethos.

Our role in this project was to lead and deliver the full electrical design and EC&I fit out, which included HV/LV distribution, sub main distribution, power cabling, control cabling, fibre optic and cat 6 data networks, instrumentation, earthing, lightning protection, general power, internal and external lighting including energy efficient automatic control systems to unmanned areas.

This project proved very demanding in terms of programme and labour resource requirements, with 40 skilled Picow engineers and operatives working on site to achieve the complex and rigid phased commissioning timescales. Our site engineers and supervisors worked very closely with Golden Acres and their project suppliers in order to accomplish this.

This projects success was down to the site management and installation teams ability to react under short notice to additional scope and change.

"Without the dedication and project management skills of Picow's engineers, GA Petfood Partners could have not achieved our ambitious development timescales.  Picow consistently exceeded our expectations, and we are certain to engage their services in the future."
