Project:
Manchester Victoria Station Lighting Upgrade
Client:
J Murphy & Sons Limited
Value:
£1.0 million
Scope:
Electrical Design & Build

As part of Network Rail’s plans for the modernisation of Manchester Victoria Station, Picow Engineering have been responsible for the design and build aspects of upgrading the existing platform lighting.

From the brief supplied by the client, surveying and conceptual designs were undertaken to provide a solution which embraced modern technologies and provided a superior lighting level and ambience. All aspects of the design were carefully planned to ensure a high level of aesthetic appeal was achieved to accompany its practicality due to the Grade II listed building status of areas of the station.

On approval of the design our installation team were then responsible for ensuring the project became a success. The project was meticulously planned with the station management team, to minimise any disruptions due to the operational nature of the station.

The project required our engineers to install the new state of the art media trunking system including the integral lighting. All existing services were redeployed into this containment prior to the redundant lighting system being removed.

Completed in the Spring of 2011 the project was a great success with the stringent programme for both design and installation being met.
